Friends/How I Met Your Mother

So this week, I am not really sure what to write about, my last “write anything” blog, I talked about Morgan Freeman and that was really easy for me to rant about but now I really can’t think of much. So I guess this week I will talk about a weird thing that I was thinking about the other day. So I really like the show How I Met Your Mother, and I really used to love watching the show Friends with my dad. The other day I was thinking about it, and I realized that they have a lot of similarities. In How I Met Your Mother, their meeting, hang out place is always the same booth in the bar, In Friends, that place was always their couch at the coffee shop. Rachel from Friends is kind of like Robin in How I Met Your Mother. Also Ross is like Ted. Monica and Chandler are like Lily and Marshall.
Both shows are about a group of friends that live in the city. I guess you could say that about a lot of shows, but I guess I realized it the most about these shows because I really like these two. I think that Ross was left at the alter at his wedding and so was Ted. Another similarity that I found weird. The other characters in the show I couldn’t find a similarity with, maybe Joey and Barney, but they still have some similarities. Also Phoebe from friends was a random character, where there wasn’t a similar one in How I Met Your Mother.
I don’t know what else to say about these shows, but another one of my favorites is Big Bang Theory. I LOVE that show, so funny. I wish I had a friend like Sheldon; he would be the highlight of my day every day. I love him and Amy together too, they are hilarious.

Blog 4

I really was not sure about what to write about, because I did not really understand the prompt, even after the email explanation. I tried the best I could to write this, and make it make sense, but it may be missing some of the parts that we were supposed to be writing about.

The text I chose to do was the DVD Turtles II Secret of the ooze. This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie has a very simple cover. It shows the turtles in a circle which looks like some metal in the ground. They are suggesting that it is some type of underground tunnel based on the background. There is also a tube of glowing green goo that is leaking out the side of the tube.

The title of the movie is The Secret of the Ooze, and in the picture it shows that it leaked, or was broken open and was leaking. This makes you start to think about what the ooze may have done, because it looks radioactive. Also the turtles in it look abnormally large and are wearing masks. So you know that they are not normal turtles.

The cover of the DVD is very bright and has many colors on it. It also looks semi "cartoonish". This shows the audience that this movie is directed towards kids. Also the pictures are simple and big to attract the attention of kids. Not only kids but it is directed towards little boys because the colors are maybe considered “boy” colors, such as blues and greens. Also the sewer setting makes boys think “dirty” and little boys like things that make them look tough.

Now you know that I really feel like I’m missing a lot of information because I am adding random sentences just to get to the 300 word minimum. haha

Blog 3

So we are supposed to write about something random this week. So I guess my random topic is one of my life goals. It is kind of funny, and my family thinks that it is weird, but my favorite actor is Morgan Freeman. I just think that he is amazing, so one of my life goals is to watch every movie that he has either been an actor or narrator in. Little did I know that he has been in almost 100 movies. I looked him up and I didn’t realize that he was turning 75 this year either. So I had to text on of my friends from back home because he is like obsessed with him as well. He was very surprised as well. I also found out that he has another movie coming out this year, and another one in 2013 called Now You See Me. I am excited to go see them, but that just adds to my list I guess, so it will make it even harder to watch all of them.
If I finish watching all the movies that he has been in, I will move to the TV shows that he has been in or the episodes on the ones that he has guest starred in. I am hoping I would be able to find these, because the show The Electric Company was from the 70’s. Luckily I doubt that I will get this far, so I probably don’t have to worry about this. Even if I do get this far, it will not be any time soon. This is going to be a really tough goal, and everybody always laughs at me when I tell them that this is one of my life goals, but I am determined to do it. Well that was enough talking about a random topic. Maybe I will think of something more exciting to write about next time haha.

Blog 2- Commercials

Over the past few days, I have watched commercials on GSN and HGTV. Some commercials that I have seen are very strange, and since the audience for GNS is so varied, there are MANY different kinds of commercials. There are commercials for everything from Humana, a company that gives Veterans insurance, to cookies. On HGTV, there are a lot of commercials for home improvement, such as paints, home depot, and furniture stores. The audience that watches this channel may be looking for ways to improve their home, or they might be looking to move, and they want to watch to get an idea of the different kinds of houses that are out there. No commercials are very memorable to me, but if I had to choose two, I would have to say that one is for the Papermate InkJoy pen. The commercial says that it will become one of the most stolen pens. It is the commercial where the woman using it thinks about stealing it, and then there is a guy hanging from the ceiling in a trap telling her that it’s a trap and that she shouldn’t take it. It might be the most memorable for me because it is the commercial that I think that I have seen the most often, and maybe because I hate most pens, and it makes me want to try it to see if I can find one that I like. Another one that is memorable to me is the one for personalized M&Ms. I remember this one the most because I have wanted to get them in the past, and every time I see the commercial I think about what I could possibly get them for. In high school I wanted to get them to ask somebody to our turnabout dance, because I thought that it would be cute, and then I told my sister that that she should get them to put on her tables at her wedding. I just think that it is a very cute idea.
